The Israeli football national team will play their first international match in the 2018 World Cup in Qatar on July 12.
The team is the third team to be added to the World Cup team in the last few years, following the Palestinian Football Association and Qatar 2022 World Cup squad.
The Israeli squad has been the subject of much debate since the country’s bid to host the World Football Tournament was rejected in March.
The World Football Federation, which organizes the tournament, has denied the bid was flawed and said it is the only team with a valid bid and no financial hurdles to overcome.
The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) said it does not believe the bid is legitimate.
“This is a completely legitimate bid from the start and is not affected by any other factor besides FIFA,” the IFA said in a statement.
The Israelis have won the Israeli Football Association’s most recent tournament title, winning the 2016-2017 Israeli Super League title.
